What does pot smell like?

There is a really unpleasant burning smell coming into my apartment. It seems likely that it’s my neighbor smoking pot, but it just doesn’t smell like pot to me. I was around a heavy pot smoker for over a decade, so I feel like I would recognize it. This smell is sour like piss and warm like old soup. Also kind of like burnt trash. No skunk at all. The neighbors then unleash a ton of incense or fabric softener to cover it up. My question is does pot usually smell as something identifiable as pot? or is it a huge range? With all the fancy new products I guess I could see it having some harsher scents. How can I tell if this is weed or something like crack or meth?
